Hi one and all,

What is the most commonly used Data Modeling tool for Data Warehousing applications?
And also list out the various Data Modeling tools that are present in BI world?

Thanks... Cheesy

As I know, the most vastly used Data modeling tool is Er-win for Data warehosuing apllications.

The different Data Modeling tools are -
  • Er-win from Platinum
  • Visio from Microsoft

These are the two tools that I knew.
If any other popular data modeling tools are there, share here.

EDIT -

The other Data Modeling tools which I came to know recently are -

  • Embarcadero
  • Oracle deginer
  • Sybase Power designer

Hope this will not complete the list... you people can still update on these...!

Erwin is probably the most common. I would suggest that you talk it over to the client because maybe they don't have license for the tool you choose. They can ask you to send the model anytime and if they can't open it...  Lips sealed

In the area of business intelligence data modeling tools help a lot to gather, store, access, and analyze corporate data. This helps a lot in decision making and illustrating business intelligence in various areas like customer profiling, customer support, market research, statistical analysis, distribution analysis, product profitability, market segmentation, and inventory, etc.
