Hi,
We are currently planning to build a DWH that will contain an operation data store as well.
Therefore data need to be transfered from all the heterogenous production databases to the single ODS instance at specified frequencies for each. e.g some of the production database wil send only once daily. others may send twice or at real time.
The problem is how to send the data from multiple databases to a single Oracle 10g Data Store instance. Some production systems are still on Oracle 8i and canot be upgraded. Export-Import is taking a huge amount of time , defying the whole purpose (organisation reporting and Datawarehouse with muliple marts).
Can you help in below:
1. How to replicate once daily from an Oracle 8i to Oracle 10g. Change data capture would have been great if available in 8i and can rapidly transfer abt 10-20 GBs of data changes.
2. How to replicate real time from orale 8i/9i/10g/11i, SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 and DB2 to a single instance of Oracle 10g, with multiple schemas to store each production database.
I would prefer to skip any thrid party vendor solution, unless licensed free!
