As per the design, the Data warehouse & Datamart are one and the same, But when coming to actual definition, we can define in the following way -

Definition of Datamart:
A Datamart is a subset of Data Warehouse that is designed for a particular line of business, such as sales, marketing, or finance.

Data mart is a subset of data resource or operational data gathered from various resources for a particular purpose or to serve a particular community. In data mart specialized data is stored that may be derived from database or data warehouse to meet the specific demands of a particular community.

A data mart is a simple form of a data warehouse that is focused on a single area like Marketing. Data mart is the access layer of the data warehouse environment. It means it is subset of Data warehouse that is used to get data out to the users.
