Re: Difference between Truncate and Delete?
on: June 22, 2011, 11:41:53 am
There is one more difference between these two -
TRUNCATE
command resets the High Water Mark for the table but
DELETE
does not.
So TRUNCATE operations on table are much faster.

Re: Active & Passive Transformations..?
on: June 22, 2011, 11:37:32 am
Java and Custom transformations
can be created as active and passive transformations while you are creating them.
Where in you can't convert Active to Passive or Vice-versa once you have created them. Just to recreate them if it is required.

I do a have a set of files and want to eliminate first "n" number of records and then to load those files to their respective tables.
I precisely mentioned "n" number of records because the elimination of first number of records is of different for the set of files

I actually have a flat file which contains duplicate data and I want to seperate that data into a seperate file.

If you're working with Unix/Linux Systems, then removing duplicates from Flatfiles at source end is one of the best option (Scriptting).
If you want to do at Informatica level - Please wait around for sometime, i'll get back to you with layouts.
