VARCHAR was previosuly of fixed length and right padded with NULL spaces to fill up the total space. However, it seems that Oracle has resolved this issue and has made VARCHAR the same as VARCHAR2. Now, only CHAR is able of fixed length storage.

VARCHAR2 is variable length - according to the values that will be stored in the database.

Employee table which consists of Emp_id, Emp_name, Salary, Mgr_id.

Please help me in achieving the below scenarios - 

1) Employee who is reporting to whom (Emp_id, Emp_name, Mgr_id, Mgr_name)

2) Employee details (Emp_id, Emp_name, Salary) whose salary is greater than his reporting manager's salary.

If the metadata got corrupted, how you re-imported the objects from repository manager.

In general, these are the findings in any support project -

• Unique Violation issues -
  This is related to data issues, have to look into the log then get that violated record which caused this issue. Fix the issue.
  
• Delay to huge volume of records -
  Hold the dependant jobs so that they wont get failed.
  
• Table locks -
  Unable to access the table due to database locks.

@Veera - I too experienced the simliar kind of issue but with Teradata database.

I looked back into my source and target datatypes which were varying with the db table structures, So I reimported the table definitions which resolved my problem.

In general, comapnies donot recruit freshers directly to BI or any other platforms. They recruit freshers, and allocating resources to platforms will depend on these factors -

Please post your system configuration whether 32 bit or 64 bit.
And also provide the Informatica 8.1 dump information also.

Informatica 8x versions can be installed easily on Windows Vista (which is 64 bit), but haven't tried on Windows 7. Hopefully the same dumps should work on windows 7.
